Significance of Mother's Day
Mother is the creator of one's physical body and hence the soul could get an opportunity to incarnate for his/her playfulness on the earth. She also inculcates core values in the children.
Mother's love is purely compassionate one, it is soulful. Her highest attachment is with her children. She is the greatest caretaker of her children. A mother may become one of the best friends of her children. She is always very much careful about children's all round growth. She is the first teacher to teach moral values, and the protector of children's piousness for their further lives. Mother-Earth, Mother-Nature & Mother-God should be viewed in one's mother, a representative of them.
Osho says - "......in the human experience, the relationship between a mother and her child is the closest to compassion.......... now depth psychology says that the mother and the child always remain joined together with subtle energy, waves, because they go on vibrating on the same wavelength........."
Mildred B. Vermont says so beautifully about a mother's job - "Being a full-time mother is one of the highest salaried jobs in my field, since the payment is pure love."
The following quotation is enlightening - "If the whole world were put into one scale, and my mother in the other, the whole world would kick the beam." ~ Lord Langdale ( Henry Bickersteth ).
Mother's love is not just restricted to the material world, but is purely spiritual. Incidences like the following show a mother's soul-saving attitude for her child.
Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, also known as the "Philosopher Queen" (1725 - 1795 ) of Malwa kingdom, India, is exemplary for her sense of justice and protection of her son's devoutness. One day, she found her only son, putting poisonous scorpions into the shoes of her subjects, resulting in their death. She ordered his execution under the elephant's feet.
In the same way, Hindi movie 'Mother India' is very much inculcating for whole of the humanity. The poor but pious mother shoots her bandit son hijacking the daughter of the rich village money-lender and thus protects the justice and the soul of her beloved son.
If mother's pure and compassionate love is there in one's sight, the spiritual & blissful beauty of the animate or inanimate world can be enjoyed, not otherwise.
Hence, Mother's Day is a 'Diamond-Day' among the 365 gems of the year.
